as i take every one of these steps i take,
i contemplate, think about the mistakes i’ve made
and not regret but instead i reflect in my head,
deliberate on the choices i have to make

as i take every one of these steps i take,

watching the sunset as i was walkin home
watching little kids play feelin all alone
got me thinkin ‘bout when i was a little kid
got me thinkin ‘bout my very first baby steps

then i got older i learn how to run
run from responsibilities. run from my problems
keep runnin away ‘cause i know i cant solve ‘em
keep runnin away till i hit rock bottom

then came a time (i got really tired)
from all this runnin (i had to retire) 
take control of my life (i finally started) 
and become a better man (i hope to mature)

as i take every one of these steps i take,
i contemplate, think about the mistakes 
and not regret but instead i reflect in my head,
deliberate on the choices i have to make

as i take everyone of these steps i take,
i understand something may block my way.
i won’t give in. it may be rough.
im gonna win, continue my path
and try to mend; make tomorrow a better day
